Friday 15th - Sunday 17th October
RACMSA Rally of Scotland
Perthshire
The 2010 Royal Automobile Club Motor Sport Association Rally
of Scotland (15-17 October) once again will feature the UK’s
round of the 2010 Intercontinental Rally Challenge (IRC). With
its fast gravel Special Stages and spectacular scenery, last
year’s inaugural RACMSA Rally of Scotland proved to be an
instant hit with competing IRC crews and rally fans. The 2010
event, officially launched this morning at the magnificent Touch
House, Stirling will build on that success and confirm the
status of the Rally of Scotland as one of the UK’s premier motor
sport attractions alongside the British Grand Prix and Wales
Rally GB.
Significant changes for 2010 include a full weekend of
competitive action, reduced admission costs for the public (see
separate release) plus the promise of an even more star-studded
entry as well as better weather conditions. While the event
sticks to its established three-day format, the 2010 action now
starts on Friday rather than Thursday evening and thus features
competitive action on both Saturday and Sunday. Running a month
earlier, the event should also avoid the atrocious weather
experienced in 2009.
Admission all accompanied children aged 15 and under
will be admitted free in 2010, it was confirmed at the event's
official launch at Touch House, Stirling. The cost of an
adult three-day Alba Rally Pass has been reduced by ten per cent
to £45 (compared to £50 in 2009). The ‘access all areas’ Alba
Rally Pass provides fans with entrance and car parking at all
the event’s Special Stages as well as the Perth Airport Service
Park, the Ceremonial Start at Scone Palace and the Ceremonial
Finish at Stirling Castle.
Individual tickets for the Ceremonial Start and both runnings of
the Scone Palace timed section on the opening Friday evening
offer even greater value. They’ve been reduced from £20 to £10
to encourage even more fans to watch the spectacular
Intercontinental Rally Challenge action kick off in the grounds
of the one-time crowning place of Scotland’s kings and queens.
This year the main action will be staged over the weekend with
competitive Special Stages both on Saturday and Sunday rather
than 2009’s Friday and Saturday format – a move that is likely
to widen the event’s appeal. Despite this switch the price for
individual day tickets remains at £20, but this year these will
provide access to all the Special Stages and car parks, rather
than just a single car park at one particular stage. Adding
further value, every adult ticket includes a free official Rally
of Scotland spectator programme worth £6.50. Three-day
Alba Rally Passes can only be purchased in advance; tickets for
Scone Palace as well as the Special Stages on Saturday and
Sunday can either be purchased in advance or at the entrance to
official car parks, although these will be strictly subject to
availability. Advance ticket holders will be given priority.
Each car park operator will be working on behalf of a local
charity and will receive a small donation from on-the-day ticket
sales. Contact - Ticket Hotline Telephone

Perthshire Amber - The Dougie MacLean Festival
Various Venues in Highland Perthshire
Dougie MacLean is "Scotland's pre-eminent singer-songwriter
and a national musical treasure" (Performing Songwriter USA) who
has developed a unique festival which shares with visitors from
Scotland and abroad his native and very beautiful scenery, as
well as his music and musical friends. This 10 day festival
features international and Scottish musicians of the highest
calibre. The concerts are staged in a variety of wonderful
venues from an iron age crannog on Loch Tay, to historic Blair
Castle and Castle Menzies and atmospheric Dunkeld Cathedral to
the Festival Theatre in Pitlochry. Yet the Festival is so much
more than the music concerts. There are workshops, walks, talks,
open mic sessions and a Young Songwriter’s Showcase as well as
Cabaret Amber (free early evening music). It's also a
celebration of the history and culture of this unique county in
the heart of Scotland, at a time of the year when Perthshire is
ablaze with rich autumnal colour. Contact - Butterstone
