Open Friday Saturday and Sunday 10.30am to 4pm
Red squirrels are now considered endangered, but here on the
reserve families of red squirrels visit our feeders, much to the
delight of our visitors. You’ll also be able to see woodland
birds such as treecreepers, siskins and great spotted
woodpeckers that all make great use of our feeders. Enjoy
seeing beautiful waterbirds including wigeon, moorhen to
mallards from the observation hides with the help of powerful
telescopes. The four star Visitor Centre provides you with
a place to birdwatch in style and all in the comfort of a cozy
centre. Sit back and relax with a cup of fair trade coffee while
you marvel at red squirrels playing right in front of you from
the viewing window. further info contact Caroline Hendry 01350

Whisky Galore the musical
Pitlochry Festival Theatre
1943: the curse of rationing has visited the remote
Hebridean islands of Little Todday and Great Todday and the
thirsty islanders have all but run out of uisge beatha - the
water of life.
And it’s not just the whisky drought causing problems, either.
Good Catholic girl Peggy Macroon has fallen for one of the
soldiers stationed on the islands, Sergeant Odd, who’s not just
English, but Protestant to boot! Catriona MacLeod is having
trouble prising meek schoolmaster George Campbell away from his
Wee Free dragon of a mother. And the dragon herself seems too
much in sympathy with the army authorities for some people's
liking . .
When the S.S. Cabinet Minister runs aground with fifty thousand
cases of whisky aboard, the islanders rush to take advantage of
the unexpected bounty. But then the officious Captain Waggett,
the English commander of the Home Guard, learns of the illicit
salvage operation – and is ordered to confiscate the liquor!
As a 60th Anniversary treat, we've chosen to revive the most
popular show in PFT's history as our first ever Autumn repertory
production. With a score that conjures up both the 1940s and the
unmistakable sounds of the Western Isles, performed by a highly
talented cast of actor-musicians, this critically acclaimed and
universally loved 2009 production went on to become the best
selling show in our 60 year history! Tickets £15 - £35

Celebrate St Andrew’s Day with the Scottish Wildlife Trust
Loch of the Lowes, Dunkeld:
To commemorate St Andrew’s Day, the Scottish Wildlife Trust
are throwing open the doors of their four star Visitor Centres
at Loch of the Lowes in Dunkeld, Montrose Basin and the Falls of
Clyde in New Lanark. Download a voucher from our website
www.scottishwildlifetrust.org.uk and present it upon
arrival at the Visitor Centre. With free entry into these
wildlife havens for the weekend of 26th and 27th November, come
and celebrate St Andrew by looking out for some other Scottish
icons. The red squirrel is a regular visitor, just metres
from the window at Loch of the Lowes. We think it’s the best
place to see red squirrels in the UK.
Otters and badgers are amongst the wildlife to complement the
majestic Falls of Clyde. This weekend may be the last chance to
see the beautiful autumn colours on the trees in the gorge.
Use the high powered binoculars at Montrose Basin to see seals
basking in the estuary, along with wildfowl and wader birds.
The Scottish Wildlife Trust Visitor Centres normally cost
between £2 and £4.50 for an adult and between £1 and £3 for
concessions, but are free all year round for Scottish Wildlife
Trust members. The opening times of the Scottish Wildlife
Trust’s Visitor Centres for the weekend of 26th/27th November
are: Loch of the Lowes, Dunkeld: 10:30am-4pm
Falls of Clyde, New Lanark: 11am-5pm
Montrose Basin, Montrose: 10:30am-4pm

Blair Atholl Christmas Market
Village Hall Blair Atholl
If the unprecedented demand for stalls at the Christmas
Market in Blair Atholl on Sunday, November 27th is anything to
go by, this annual event will once again prove a major
attraction in the lead up to the festive season. The venue is
the Blair Atholl hall with the market in full swing from noon to
3.00pm. Some brave exhibitors have even requested stalls in the
car park outside the hall, regardless of what might eventuate in
terms of winter weather!
Items for sale will include a wide range of Christmas gift
ideas, a selection of food items with home baking very much in
evidence, locally produced meat, jewellery, cards, artwork,
photography, seasonal plants and vegetables. There will be ample
opportunity to sit and chat over tea, coffee, cakes and scones,
even a glass of mulled wine served by the members of the Blair
Atholl Area Tourism Association, organisers of the event.
Market Convener Jenny Davidson said that previous experience has
shown that staging the market a month in advance of Christmas
has proved ideal timing. "We know that many of those who attend
will leave with a sense of fulfilment knowing that they have
completed a useful amount of their Christmas shopping".
