'The Illusionist', presented by the Heartland Film Society
Locus Centre Aberfeldy
From the creator of Belleville Rendezvous Sylvain Chomet,
this animation is a gentle tale set in the 1950s. It takes us on
a journey from Paris to a lovingly depicted Edinburgh and on to
the Hebrides as the magician Tatischeff (an animated version of
Jacques Tati) tries to make his living in a changing world.
After opening the Edinburgh International Film Festival, this
film was acclaimed for its gorgeously detailed imagery and
moving story and has received consistent five-star reviews.
2010, UK (Scotland) & France, English and French language, 80
mins, cert. PG £5 on the door, free to members. Heartland
Film Society shows films on the big screen in an informal,
friendly atmosphere. Our season runs from September through to

Shoo-Be-Doo
Birnam Arts & Conference Centre
Station Road Birnam Dunkeld PH8 0DS
You may know Dave Anderson as the Bank Manager in City Lights,
or Gregory’s Dad in Gregory’s Girl, but he started his career as
a songwriter: his songs for The Steamie are being sung
(somewhere) right now.
Encouraged by the success of Tir na nOg (“Best New Musical” –
Edinburgh 2007), Dave has embarked on a series of new
mini-musicals, this being the mini-est yet, having a cast of
one, including the orchestra! The theme is his teenage years,
which just happens to be the late ‘50’s, when Rock’n’Roll was
King, and hair was, well, on his head. Expect hits (and
forgotten classics) of the time, plus new songs of his own.

Perth 800 - Macmillan Cancer Support Etape Caledonia
Pitlochry
The Etape Caledonia is an 81-mile cycle challenge taking place
on traffic-free roads in the stunning scenery of Highland
Perthshire. Etape Caledonia is Britain's first closed road cycle
race open to the general public. It offers the ordinary cyclists
closed roads to cycle on in safety. We are all used to mass
participation running races in the form of marathons and half
marathons, now there is an equivalent for cyclists. Why Etape
Caledonia? Well 'Etape' is the name for a stage as in a stage of
the Tour de France cycle race. Caledonia of course refers to
Scotland, so what better name can you have for this race. There
are some 25 million people who own bicycles in Britain, so why
shouldn’t they have a closed road cycle event where they can
have the roads to themselves. There cannot be anywhere better
than Highland Perthshire to cycle, we assure you that you will
find the scenery along the route absolutely fabulous. The air is
clean, with none of your city high traffic fumes that other
parts of Britain and Europe and the world suffer from. The event
on 16th May 2010 is open to individuals between the ages of 18
and 80. To ensure that the roads are reopened to the schedule
agreed with the authorities, participants will need to maintain
an average speed of 13-14mph around the course. This gives at
least 6h 15mins to reach the finishing line within the closure
window. Even if you are unable to meet this average you can
continue on open roads and complete the full circuit. Admission
- Spectators free, Participants £54 Registration (to be
confirmed) Contact - Etape Caledonia Telephone - 0871 384 9920

Henceforward by Alan Ayckbourn
Pitlochry Festival Theatre
It’s sometime quite soon . . . Jerome is a serious
avant-garde composer. He`s written string quartets, a ‘cello
sonata. Unfortunately, he`s best known for the soundtrack of the
infamous Singing Babies TV commercial . . . Even worse, ever
since his bank manager wife Corinna left him, taking their
daughter with her, Jerome has suffered from creative block.
Locked inside his fortress flat, he now lives surrounded by TV
screens, computers and synthesizers, with just one companion:
NAN 300F, a robot nanny who seems almost human, despite being
perpetually on the blink. After a four year absence, Ayckbourn
returns to the PFT repertoire with the Scottish première of a
deliciously funny and wholly ingenious futuristic comedy.

See How They Run!
Pitlochry Festival Theatre
Merton-cum-Middlewick, 1942: the inhabitants are braced for an
imminent Nazi invasion. But Miss Skillon, the spinsterish
village busybody, considers that a far greater danger threatens
the Reverend Lionel Toop. One vicarage, five vicars - two
of whom aren’t. Everything you need for a classic British farce!
First seen at PFT in 1956, See How They Run! is simply one of
the greatest farces of all time: brilliantly constructed and
achingly funny. Pitlochry Festival Theatre Box office
