Annual Events held in Highland Perthshire

In this section we write a detailed report on some of the events held in Highland Perthshire. So of these events will be held on an annual basis others are one off event.

The Enchanted Forest - The first event we report on is the hugely successful Enchanted Forrest. This event drew people from all over the United Kingdom from London to Caithness. It proved popular with both young and old. It is held at the end of the main tourist season, at the end of October and in to the first two weeks of November. At time of year when there is plenty of accommodation available and a chance for the visitors to enjoy Pitlochry and Blair Atholl's restaurants.

Other events we will be adding to this section are:-

The Battle of Killiecrankie each year a group of Jacobite enthusiasts remember the Battle of Killiecrankie by walking the route that Bonnie Dundee's army took over 300 years ago. Here some images of the walk.

The Atholl Highlander's Parade - This is Europe's only legal private army. The Atholl Highlanders are inspected on the last Saturday weekend in May each year by the Duke of Atholl. It is one of the best remnants of the old Clan system, where every chief had his own army comprising of their clan members. The Atholl Highlanders are made up of Atholl Estate workers and local people. The parade is held in front of Blair Castle with the Atholl Highlanders wearing their distinctive uniform and fire their huge cannon which lets off an almighty bag. This is an event that is very well while seeing.

There are a number of Highland Games held in the Highland Perthshire each year starting with the Atholl Gathering in Blair Atholl on the last Sunday in May each year and the last Highland Games being held at Pitlochry in September.

Highland Perthshire in the form of Pitlochry will be hosting the for a second time the British Pipe Band Championships. This is a huge event with bands marching down Pitlochry main street and over 2,000 pipes and drums appearing in a grand finale at the end of a day of competition.
