Highland Perthshire has much to offer
in terms of sport and leisure from many way marked walking
trails maintained by either Forestry Commission, Atholl Estates,
National Trust and Perth and Kinross Council, or around the
towns of Pitlochry, Dunkeld both of which have a particularly
fine walk network system with guide maps. You will also find a
superb range of activities from fishing to white water rafting,
from sailing to quad bikes, trekking, duckying, gorge ascents,
high ropes challenge, climbing wall, archery, off-road biking,
4X4 driving, blindfold driving, archery, swimming, air rifle
shooting, salmon fishing and clay pigeon shooting to name a few.

Pitlochry
Dam, Fish Ladder, Festival Theatre Circular Walk. This
popular short walk, taking 30-45 mins, starts in the middle of
Pitlochry. It goes down and along the River Tummel, through the
ancient settlement of Port-na-craig to the fish ladder and
observation room, over the dam wall and back into Pitlochry.
Along the route are the Festival Theatre, Port-na-craig Inn,
Scottish Hydro Electric Visitor Centre & Armoury Restaurant

Atholl Estates Ranger
Service offers two superb booklets, one on Way-marked
Trails and the other detailing Cycle Routes.
Way-marked Trails, a ten-page booklet with details of 6
way-marked routes ranging from 1 mile to 10 miles through
woodlands, along rivers and over heather-clad hills.
Cycle Routes from Blair
Atholl leaflet highlights four cycle trails with a good area
map included.
Both can be obtained from the
Atholl Estates Ranger’s Office (beside the Atholl Country Life

Pitlochry Walks Leaflet,
including a map, provides details of nearly 41 miles of paths
and tracks, offering a wide choice of distances, gradients and
scenery to suit a variety of tastes, levels of ability and
fitness.
The walks radiate out into the
countryside over 18 square miles, encompassing both sides of the
Rivers Garry and Tummel, following river, burn and lochside,
passing shaded woodland and climbing steep hillsides with
panoramic views.
The countryside is famous for
its flora, fauna and places of historical interest. The leaflets
are available from the Tourist Information Centre and many
businesses in the town.
